Card #2 for the Summer Card Camp 2011

Good afternoon everyone!  Hope your day is as sunny outside as mine is.
The only bad thing about that though is that inside here I am either freezing or hot.  There seems to be no pleasing Christy in the A/C department.  I'm just like this in the Winter though so I really don't understand why I am like this.  I know I cannot tolerate heat or even just being stuffy inside.

Eric and I went through a ton of clothes last night and it is just a never ending battle with our clothes.  At least my clothes just out of no where double and triple. One might think this is a great thing, but not when you have to wash it all and fold it {WHICH I DETEST FOLDING IT}.  Soooo anyway, we got all our winter and the "these don't fit me anymore" clothes out of the drawers and closets and stored away.

OK, so about this card I made today.  Jennifer McGuire showed us how to make a card using a transparency.  This is something that I have always wanted to know how to do.  Well the card I ended up using vellum on it instead.  Every ink I used it seemed wanted to smear, not want to dry quick enough, not dark enough, blah blah blah.  So I switched it from a "Get Well" card to a "Just Because" card.  Actually IDK what type of card you would classify this in.  You tell me.
Here is the card front
Inside the card I also have the same orange
paper with the same butterflies stamped on it
using Vera Mark ink

Here is a bit of a close up of the sides
I used a Fiskars border punch and then the sky blue
is Stickles

This is the close-up of the vellum window with
the quote from Emily Dickenson.
Surrounding it are more Stickles.

Just another full photo of the front

The one thing I was worried about was cutting the window in the correct place.  Aaaaaand, since I really do not have Sizzix dies that cut out these for me {I mainly use it to emboss}, I used my new Cricut 2 & Gypsy with the Storybook cartridge.  You wanna know something really cool?  It worked on the first try!  It cut perfectly centered.  I love being able to see the mat before I cut.  Both the newest Cricut does that as well as the Gypsy which makes crafting even more fun...if that's even a possibility?

Well I must end for now...If you didn't get a chance to see my WEEK 1 DAY 1 card just scroll down or click on this LINKY LINK RIGHT HERE and you will go right to it.
Thank you so much for stopping by again, I love having company!
Take Care Everyone!!!

Summer Card Camp 2011 Has Begun ~ Wo0T!!!

Good morning everyone! I am actually so super excited about the beginning of Summer Card Camp 2011. The class is given by Jennifer McGuire & Kristina Werner two people who I personally admire for their creative talents.  Not to mention they are have tons of big named guests throughout the 4 week class!  The link above will tell you all about it.

On Monday we were given the colors to work with for the week.
They are warm shades of purple, pink, and orange alongside a sky blue and white.  I have to say that I have not used these colors together EVER on the same project. But I did do a card, an easel card.  I seem to do a lot of easel cards I think...hmmmmm.  I just really think they are neat, and very easy to make.

So here is my card that I appropriately entitled
"Miracles"

The stamp says "Miracles happen to those who believe".  I just purchased this stamp last week actually and I felt it was the perfect sentiment to use here.  I hope you like it.  I am really going to try to keep up with this class.  I am sure that there will be a day here and there that I will get behind, but I will try my hardest and that is all I can do!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a FANTASTICAL DAY!!!

Somewhat past due but here are some Mother's Day cards I made for a personal order

Hi everyone!  I know that I have been away for a very long time now and I do have my reasons...life happened to overwhelm me and I got caught up in everything.  I had a huge order to make 17 Mother's Day cards for one person and I wasn't given to "go ahead" until nearly a week before she needed them which just added so much more pressure and stress.  But when it all came down to it, she was very happy with them all and expressed to me later on that night that she really needed around 35 and that 17 was not enough!!!  She is a very social person which is really neat that she remembers all her friends and everyone on this special day.

I would like to share with you some of these cards that I created for her.  I hope you enjoy!

Obviously there are not all 17 cards shown here, but she said that everyone LOVED the card they each received.  Hearing that just made my day knowing that they brought a smile to someones face.

So much has been going on lately, I have been without a card now for close to a month.  Just getting it back this past Saturday the 11th of June...ugh!  That was rough having to rely on everyone to take me places or to just do without going places.  And of all places that it broke down was in the drive-Thur of Walgreen's pharmacy pick-up window! DOH!  But it was all good, mu car insurance offers free roadside assistance which includes towing so that was perfect!

I also bought the newest edition to the Cricut family; the Expression 2 Anniversary Edition and I LOVE it!!!

It comes pre-loaded with four cartridges two of which are exclusive for this machine only.  I will admit though that I have not had as much time to play with it due to the fact that the original one that was sent to me was in some way defective and Provocraft replaced it for me and I just got it in last sat the 11th {same day as I got my car back lol}.  So I have so much to learn from it now!!!

Well I want to thank you all for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful day today.

Kevin GRADUATED!!!!

I figured I would use Kevin's school colors for this post.  On June 3rd, 2011 my son, my first born-graduated High School!  I couldn't be more proud of him.  He had a rough way to go a few years back but he made it through that ok.

He also just got accepted to Raymond Walters College which is a division of the University of Cincinnati!!!  Now I am a very proud mama!!!

Here are some pictures from this great night:

Kristin played her flute for the graduation so that was very nice, she cried hardest of us all.
God Bless my son during his next chapter of life!
