The food you eat has a lot to do with the dreams you have. There is an excellent book about thinking and the mind (Who Switched Off My Brain?). There is some information in there about dreams. The author says that your thinking patterns can influence your dreams. Dreams are supposed to be our brain sorting out our thoughts, so often if we have nightmares, there may be something we need to deal with. I know that personally I have had nightmares sometimes when I have been very worried or upset about something. Sometimes also inner problems that we haven't dealt with can come out in nightmares. I've had this happen to me before, too.

My suggestion would be to spend some time before going to bed reading the Bible and meditating on God's promises. Maybe you could even play peaceful music while you sleep. (or even better, I would probably play the Bible on my mp3 player!)

I really hope this helps. I'll pray for you to get some peaceful sleep without nightmares!

Have a good day!
Renee

P.S. I awarded your blog! :) You can see it here:
http://www.aglimpseofbeautiful.com/2010/09/something-beautiful-award.htmlRachel Reneehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12326204270380903697noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5356592022135019808.post-11905305222146965562010-09-12T20:24:04.556-04:002010-09-12T20:24:04.556-04:00Christy,

Don't take sleeping pills and sometimes different medications make them worse. I had so many I started writing a book--they were stephen king crazy. Lately, I have not had any. Pray and pray. God can give us peace day and night.
Hopefully they will go away,
KimKim Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12976733262450991843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5356592022135019808.post-8511344425187576292010-09-12T10:16:49.287-04:002010-09-12T10:16:49.287-04:00I used to have nightmares. It was like a battle in my mind as I kept telling myself to stop and I couldn't make it stop!

I found this scripture helpful to me when I was having nightmares and I'd say it outloud each night before bed and if I woke up from a dream. I don't know your faith but wanted to shrare this, k?:

Psalm 4:8 I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone Lord, make me dwell in safety.

One thing worth trying, is watching your diet before bedtime. Stay away from strong foods. Try a cup of camomille tea before bed. I hear Bachs Rescue Remedy (flower essenses) are very calming. Health foods stores will have it.

Good luck and God bless.Parsleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18409440410210436267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5356592022135019808.post-44310205023485560702010-09-12T05:58:13.877-04:002010-09-12T05:58:13.877-04:00Christy~

I am told by my fiance that this happens often about 5 nights a week that I cry out, yell, etc. I am actually glad that I don't remember but am not happy about the sleep disturbance. I have taken medication in the past but I did not see that it helped. I wish I had some kind of great advice to give you but I dont. All I can say is pray about it and that I can relate to how it can effect ones mood and sleep. I hope this passes soon.

~SherryScrapping With Sherryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03298505590887097804noreply@blogger.com
