New Card & Some Good News

Happy Friday everyone!  I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make this post or not tonight as we had some horrible storms here earlier.  The power went out but just for a little bit, thank goodness.  Kevin and I were playing "Family Game Night" on the Wii and noticed how it was shaping up in the soon to be night sky; so we took it upon ourselves to take a few pictures.

This picture here is a bit blurry but it shows the bad weather coming at us

So this evening I created a card using a new paper pack that I recently got
This here is the 6x6 paper pad of Amy Tan's Sketchbook collection.  I only just this week saw this entire collection at my Michaels in a 12x12 pad from DCWV.  So I am very happy about that.  This is a very cute and whimsical paper pad and I love working with it.
These are the sheets that I used for this particular card
I wanted to create a card for my sons girlfriends birthday which happened to be yesterday.

Here is a picture of the card (there have been some minor alterations to it since this was taken)

The alterations are some added glitz to the sides of the black card stock just to give it some sparkle...I like sparkly things what can I say.

I mentioned the volunteering position in my last post but at that time I wasn't sure if I would get it, well...I did get it!  YES!  So I am awaiting a phone call from the woman in charge of the kiddos area and we will discuss me doing the crafts for them and planning out what/when/how/etc. for all the crafts they do.  How excited I am to be doing this.

Speaking of working with kids and crafting with them, Michaels all week has had Kids Craft Camp and I have been hosting it at my store.  I have had such a blast doing this with them.  I get to be silly with the kiddos and them with me...which is perfect.  So far this week we have made a ladybug, a bee, cards, key chains, buttons, flowers, garden sign, wax resist water-coloring, bendable wax cards and tomorrow we are going to finish up something that we had to let dry over night to make some cool punch outs for more cards, a bird house and some hand puppets!  Wheeew can you say fun! LoL!  I know I'm a little over excited to be doing this but I truly enjoy it and this is what being happy with your work is all about; truly enjoying what you do.

Oh and I almost forgot, the Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village has requested that I come back in November to have another class for some Christmas cards!!!  I am thrilled to pieces about this.  The Middletown Arts Center has also scheduled me for a workshop on October 6th to make some Halloween & Christmas cards.  There is something called Mid-Fest going on that day and they felt this would be a great time for me to try and get some people interested in classes.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!  I will be posting some more soon.

Nickelback Concert Info & some DT Info too!

Good morning friends! Hope your Sunday is off to a great start.  I have been going through the pictures that Eric and I took at Friday nights Nickelback concert and let me tell you what a fantastic show this was.  Nickelback yea they were awesome of course but Gavin Rossdale the lead singer of Bush came out into the crowd singing and dancing.  He literally ran right past me and I touched his sweaty arm!!! LoL OMG!!!! For those of you who do  not know who this is I will show you...
See what I mean?  Isn't he a doll? I was really excited though to see this group because I have liked them since they started which was back in the early 90's.  So this was a treat to finally see them.  Touching his arm and seeing him up close was just a really nice bonus!

Eric and I went a little camera happy before the show.

Notice how his expression doesn't change but mine does.  We were supposed to make an "Oh" face and I think the first photo I kinda did but the next one I am clearly in some type of physical pain and smiling here by the third one, lol.  But alas the show started and I won't bore you with a million and one photos of the show but just a few.  The rest if you are interested are on my Facebook Page.
Here is also a tiny small clip of Gavin talking about how we all need to unite together and stop violence in a response to the tragic shootings in Colorado.

You would never know that I went to see Nickelback from all I am saying here would you?  Well we did and they too were incredible.  They started out with "This Means War" which I just had an inkling they would start it all with this one.  Good choice it got the crowd all fired up!

Here is one of My Darkest Days

Eric wanted to also get a pic of our tickets and concert poster

I think I strained my voice as if I need any help doing that, but yea I sang almost every song from Bush's set until the last note from Nickelback.  I was so tired when we got in that I shortly fell asleep soon after stepping foot in the house.

I have also been busy getting some cards ready for Let's Make Greeting Cards and when they are published I will share them on here with you all.  I think you will love them!

For now I need to scoot, take care everyone and thank you for stopping by.

Volunteering & going to see Nickelback Friday!!!

Good evening everyone!
I am so excited about a few things going on right now.  The first thing is that I went to a volunteer orientation yesterday at a place called The Healing Center here in Cincinnati.  It is a wonderful place that has so many services that anyone can use at anytime.  I volunteered to help out with the kiddos and do the arts and crafts with them and the staff there was very excited about that.  They said they have been looking for someone to basically head up that area.  So I will keep you posted on what happens there.

Back in April for Eric's and my 2 year anniversary he surprised me with tickets to Nickelback!!!
So tomorrow we will be in great seats (no lawn seats this time, we got Pavilion seats!).  The acts are My Darkest Days, Bush & Nickelback. Love my Eric!

Oh and I had to get a new phone yesterday and I LOVE it. It's the Alcatel One Touch 918 Mix
I have the white one but the neat thing about it is that you can change the covers around and have different colors so its super neat!  Not to mention it has a few more different features than my Alcatel One Touch 990.  This is an upgraded version of the 990 so I am happy about it and it's cuter...lol.  I know I know right!  But come on admit it, you want something that is not only efficient but cute too!  At least that's what I strive for.  Now then next phone I want to get is that Windows phone.  Have you seen those! OMG, they are so sweet. But I digress...

One last thing I NEED to mention.  Not sure if you know that Alanis Morissette is my all-time favorite female musical artist.  I have seen her 3 times and now she finally has a new album coming in August.  Her new single "Guardian" is out now though and I wanted to share it with you...hope you like.

I hope you all have a wonderful night/day!  Please take care and God Bless!

Wet Fingernail Polish...& the Cricut Everyday Cartridge

Hello all my crafty friends!  Hope you're all doing well.  I have been waiting to write this here for a couple of hours now but have had to wait due to wet nail polish.  Don't you hate that!  Unless you have some

Insta-Dri from Sally Hansen  forget about getting anything accomplished for the next few hours.  See my nails could be dry to the touch but then as you know as soon as you think you're good to go...WHAM-O you brush your nail against something or it smooshes into something else creating a nice crater on your once perfect nail.  So that is why I say hours and not a shorter time.  If you have any tips on how to go about this better I would love to hear them.

Have any of you seen the Circut cartridge called Cricut Everyday? OMG!  I have wanted this cartridge for the looongest time and it was only available to those in the Cricut Circle. Until I found it on Ebay a couple weeks ago and bid like crazy and won it!  It arrived brand new in the package and this baby is so cute.  Let me show you some pictures of some projects that I have seen and let you be the judge:

Okay, so you get the point (I hope).  The cartridge has so many cute scrappy sayings and puns and logos and well...just an overload of Cricut stuff.  It has stuff for the Gypsy, the Yudu, the cartridges themselves, the boxes that the carts come in...I mean you name it you will get it in here if it has anything to do with the Cricut.  So what I want to do is start off by making some new signs for work.  Something that will be small but will be catchy to the eye.

Does anyone remember me talking about creating an inventory book for my crafty items?  This was a long time ago.  Well I did it a lot differently than I had originally thought I was going to do.  It is pretty much completed, I just really want to decorate the cover...I think.  It is already a cute covered book and I hate to change that, but at the same time I want to make it my own.  IDK, I'll have to wait and see what I end up doing with it.   What I originally wanted to do was to take all my original sketches and supplies and combine all them into one binder or book.  Well I have way to many sketches as well as supplies so one book wouldn't have worked.

Today Eric and I are attending a wedding.  His cousin Tim is getting married.  Should be a fun time.  I went out last night and got a new shirt and necklace to go with it for the occasion.  This is why the nail polish was required to change colors.

Well everyone I am heading off now.  I want to work on some things before everyone wakes up.  Have a lovely Saturday and thank you for stopping by!

And we wonder why our youth is the way they are (FUNNY)

Hello everyone! I know I haven't posted in a while just like I said I wouldn't do...but I did anyway; sorry.  I had to take care of some extremely personal issues.  I will post more in a bit but I wanted to share this picture that Eric and I took last night at Wal-Mart in none other than the School Supply section:
Yes you are seeing correctly...a clip strip of metal flasks next to the notebooks and right above there are "Hello Kitty" folders but they wouldn't have shown up as well in the picture.

Take care everyone and I promise that I will be back SOON to explain what has been going on and what I've been up to!
