Good Day everyone! I hope that everyone did not get hit to hard by Irene over the weekend. I hope you all & your families are safe. I had my kiddos here for the weekend and Kevin is still here. He will be with Eric and I until Tuesday or Wednesday. Kristin wasn't feeling to great today and had to go back home earlier than normal. She is feeling better now though. I've checked in with her dad & he told me that she was resting and feeling some better than she had earlier.
I have been communicating with a woman named Cheryl who is the owner of a local store here in Cincinnati, Ohio calledA Sweet Life. I spoke with Cheryl this past Saturday and she gave me the GREAT news...she said "You in!" and I just about flipped! I have been waiting to hear this for a month or so now. She has put papers in the mail for me to look over and I think by this upcoming weekend {hopefully}, I will be in the shop with my items. I never thought 4 years ago when I started crafting that I would have a spot in a local store, this is the ultimate for me!
I have also sold two more items in my Etsy Shop. Two of my Birthday Calendar's we bought. I made one more tonight and will take some pictures of it in the morning with the sunlight.
I want to thank you all for stopping by my page! Nothing makes me more happy than to share things with you and to hear from you. I hope you are all well and have a fantastic day/week!
Hi there everyone! I want to share with you something that I have been working on for a few weeks now. I want to share with you a new company called KaBoks. It is so new and still in the process of getting up and running that I do not have a website or blog for you yet. I do have the forum however which is AWESOME! I will give you the link to that in a second. Let me tell you what Kaboks is and what they are working on.
Kaboks is a digital scrapbooking company that has some very talented designers and a wonderful creative team. Then there is me; I am a Creative Explorer for Kaboks and what that means is that I am going to take you on my journey of being a complete newcomer to the digital/hybrid world of scrapbooking and trying to learn how to do everything involved with it. I will be writing up my journey about all of my experiences. I do mean ALL the experiences I have with it, I will not sugarcoat any of this. Just as I will revel in something that I find that is worth shouting about in praise!
I wanted to leave you with a little bit of what I wrote on August 14, 2011 which was before I had delved into any of the digital/hybrid world.
Hi there, my name is Christy and I am one of the Creative Explorers for Kaboks. I am here to tell you all about my experiences; the good, the bad and the frustrating in learning from scratch how to digitally/hybrid scrapbook. I want to first tell you a little about me and my experience as a scrapper. I have been scrapbooking and creating cards now for around 3-4 years. That is, I actually cut my paper and use supplies that I have to go out and purchase or wait for them to arrive via the mail. I truly enjoy creating a layout or a card or any other medium using my hands. I have never really thought much about digital scrapbooking until now.
What do I know of digital/hybrid scrapbooking?Honestly, not a lot.I hope you follow me on this adventure as I try my best to learn. My thoughts on digital/hybrid scrapbooking before now were really confused you could say.I just didn’t/don’t understand how you can create a layout using only your computer.I am excited about this journey to experience a new technique and style of scrapbooking.Because I want to know what the rave is all about! Is it easier online?Does it have its advantages? Is it less time consuming? Is it more fun?I wonder these things and as I do, I get that feeling that most scrapbookers {probably both digital and traditional} get when they are about to learn and try something completely out of their comfort zone.
This here is written before I have dove into anything digitally related.
Stay tuned for more as I begin to embark in the digital world of crafting!

Now I want to give you the forum link for Kaboks. The forum is open now and we welcome you to come join us in the start of something new & exciting. You can meet some wonderful people there and if you are a traditional scrapbooking/card maker/etc. then you are most welcome to follow me on this journey and to start your own journey there as well!
I haven't blogged in a few days and I can feel the withdrawal in my veins! LoL! I wanted to share with you some new items that I have been working on. And guess what? They are NOT CARDS! If you can believe that! Oh I still am creating cards like a mad woman here, but I have also been creating small little items that I think would be really great to take with me to the Lake Waynoka Craft Show.
I got this idea from a friend {Gina H.}, she is in my local scrapbooking group. We all met this past Friday evening and she showed us what she was working on. I am using a portion of her idea and tweaking the rest of this creation on my own.
I call them Sticky Notes Cases, basically a cute little case for a post-it note that you can keep on your desk or in your purse or where ever you may need to use a quick notepad.
Here are two that I have created & photographed so far:
Here is the blue striped case:
I have also been making Birthday Reminder lists that connect with a binder ring. Here are some photos of them:
I actually just sold one of these on my Etsy Shop but it was a custom order so I made that today and will be sending that out tomorrow to her. I hope she loves it!
Well I am going to go craft some more now...I want to thank you all for stopping by! Please have a WONDERFUL day and take care!
I have been super busy lately working on all types of projects and cards to take with me to Lake Waynoka Craft Show. I intentionally however took today as a "Christy" day. I have so many things I WANT to work on but seem to always have projects that are for this or that. I just needed some FUN to be put back into my crafty world today and I had a blast doing it. For my "ME" day I created 5 cards that I have been meaning to get done and FINALLY did! I am so happy with that. I cannot show them on here though, perhaps further down the road b/c the recipients of these cards might be lurking around. HeHeHe!
I CAN show you the Mini Card sets that I created the other day though. I love these, I think they are so cute. I have a bunch more already in the process of getting completed with all sorts of designs and embellishments. I have a lot in the making for Christmas as well. So be prepared for a lot of holiday projects coming up. Not just Christmas but Halloween and Thanksgiving to!
Speaking of Halloween, I just signed up on Smeared Ink's blog to be a "Wicked Blogger" for the month of October. What that means is that I have to make a Halloween related project and post it on here EVERY DAY IN OCTOBER!!! Hmmm, I wonder if I can do this. I hope I can. There is a fabulous sounding prize in the end for one lucky blogger.
Ok, so here are 2 of my Mini Card Sets w/ matching handmade boxes:
Each set contains 6 mini cards measuring 3x3 and comes with matching handmade envelope
The boxes are also handmade and measure 3 1/2" square
The stamps used on these two sets are from Chatterbox and are heat embossed
I truly hope you like these as much as I do! They took no time at all to create and were so much fun making to boot!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great night and fantastic tomorrow!
Hi everyone and Happy Saturday Evening!!!! Yes it is just a minute til 11 PM here in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have had such a great few days that I have to share with you all.
Well first of all yesterday Kevin my dearest son contacted me in the morning saying he had an interview at Kings Island which is a huge amusement park here locally. It was even on the Brady Bunch. Do you remember the episode where they all went to the amusement park and Mr. Brady had a Yogi Bear poster instead of the plans he was there to show? Check out this video...it is also a VH-1 "Pop-Up Video" where it tells you all sort of interesting facts as well as funny ones.
But I digress, his interview was at 2:50 in the afternoon and at 3:30 he called to tell me he got the job!!!! I am so proud of him. He will be working for them during their Fear Fest through out Halloween season. This is his first official job. Yes he's worked for his dad and then worked for a neighbor painting houses which I think that was his real first job, but Kevin never really thought of it that way. But either way, he starts September 24th!!!! He also starts college at University of Cincinnati on September 21st he said. He will only be working weekends at K.I. which I do hope he will be able to keep up with the load of work they hand him at UC.
I also today went out shopping at Joann's Fabric craft store and then Michael's, but only purchased things at Joann's...and you wanna know something? Psst...come closer...I bought this Fiskars Sure Cut Paper Trimmer:

I had originally had this:
And the lines were coming off and it just stunk and was becoming harder and harder to use. I have been wanting the one first pictured ever since I took that Summer Card Camp with Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner. I saw this listed on Jennifer's blog as her favorite trimmer. I haven't used it yet but I cannot wait to.
But WAIT...there's more to the whole trimmer story and the trip to Joann's Fabric and Crafts. LoL! I bought the trimmer which was $29.99 but was 40% off {the ONLY reason I purchased it}, then I bought some Scotch Scrapbooker's glue with a 2-Way applicator, on sale also, a set of cling stamps {7 stamps in this set} for under $3.00 which was on sale for that price, then a magazine that I have been wanting called "Card Ideas For Paper Crafters" by Paper Crafts and that was $14.99 but was 10% off. So I am getting checked out and I say to the clerk I have 40% coupon {which was only good for one item and one item NOT on sale to boot}, so he tells me that everything is on sale. I stepped into action and said I understand you take competitors coupons, he said yes, I whipped out a Michael's coupon that was 25% of total purchase even sale items it said. JACKPOT!!!!! The total for everything was $30 and some change! I was so thrilled! I know I know a long story to get to a bargain. But I really did want to tell you about that awesome trimmer I got. I am planning on using it tonight....alllll night! LoL!
Also, the coordinator for the Lake Waynoka Craft Fair called me today, and I have to get busy busy busy on some Christmas cards, some sets, and I want to make some bookmarks and laminate them at well. So I hope I have enough laminating stuff to do that.
Speaking of getting busy busy busy...I have a new trimmer to try out and some X-mas cards to make.
Ohhh wait...oh nevermind, I'll save my other great news for the next post! Keep you on your toes! hehehe
Thank you all again for stopping by, I do love it when you visit me! Take care everyone and have a GREAT Sunday tomorrow {or today it's now 12:37}
Yes it is Monday again time to get things done and let go of the weekend's past fun. I found this
little poem on a site about Monday's:
Monday must be the most horrible of days.
The reasons it's horrible are too horrible to say.
But with that said, I'll try to explain
Why Monday must bring us oh so much pain.
You see on Monday, you work with a frown.
The full work week ahead has gotten you down.
The weekend has come, and the weekend has passed,
And like all weekends it just didn’t last.
But Monday sure lasts, it lasts so long.
You keep checking your watch to see what’s wrong.
But against your wishes your watch is just fine.
Against your wishes you can’t speed up time.
So you sit and you wait and you pretend to work.
You dream of a boss that isn’t a jerk.
But then you wake up and you almost cry.
You wish and you wish that the day would just die.
But wait, please listen, don’t worry my friend.
For one thing is certain, all Mondays must end.
Now that it’s been said, I’ll say it again.
More Mondays will come and more Mondays will end.
I thought it was cute and something a wee bit different to post.
I belong to several groups on Yahoo! and one in particular is having a Tri-Fold card swap. I created a Triangle tri-fold card in the colors that my partner likes most; blue & green. This was my first attempt at this type of card. What I love to do is go to YouTube.com and look up tutorials and go from there. I started a book that has everything I have learned in it so far. It's a big book! Anywho...here is the card that I made for Carol; my swap partner:
This is the card closed
As you can see I embossed the triangles
This is the heat embossed greeting on the inside of the card
This is how the card looks opened up
I really hope she likes it! It was VERY easy to make actually I was surprised! I am thinking of making some for Lake Waynoka's Craft Fair in October. I am thinking some card sets or something.
I also created a new layout yesterday. This layout was made using The Flying Unicorn's August Kit of the Month. A great kit I would like to add! I received it the other day in the mail and wow!!! This layout also uses pictures that you may have already seen of me. I thought the self-portraits that I took for the Shimelle Explore class would be perfect for it! I want to explain the layout... Eric and I have given this a lot of thought and we have decided that we want to try to have a child. I know that I am 39, have a 19 & 17 year old, and some minor health issues...but this is something that he and I really want. We have already seen the high-risk doctor who has sent me to a diabetic specialist. So I am doing what I need to do. Anyway, I wanted to make a layout about my decision on this matter. Hope you like:

here there is hidden journaling
I hope you liked what I shared with you today, even if it is a Monday! I hope you all have a fantastic day and thank you for stopping by!
So much has been going on lately that I want to share with you. I had my son Kevin here for 3 weeks and he left this morning to go back home. I already miss him.
This week I had been working on and off on a layout for his graduation. I used 3 photos that represent his very first day of school, Junior High graduation & his graduation from Little Miami High School.
I think it turned out very nice! I used a sketch from The Flying Unicorn. This is a great site, check out their store while you are at it!!! Great products and awesome kits!!!
I also went to see a concert this past Wednesday {August 3, 2011}...Journey/Foreigner/Night Ranger all at Riverbend Music Center. Eric surprised me with tickets a few weeks ago for this and I was so happy!!! It was nice for us to get out by ourselves. It was truly like a date night.
The concert itself was pretty good. Night Ranger was on first, then Foreigner, and then Journey. Eric and I were not to impressed with Journeys performance though. The other 2 bands were great though!
Here are a few pictures of Eric and I at the show with a couple of crowd shots to show you how packed it was!
If I remember correctly there was over 30,000 people in attendance this night. We were out in the lawn and it was packed as you can see!
I also received a letter in the mail from a woman who invited me to be a vendor at their annual craft show up in Lake Waynoka!!! I was beyond thrilled to get this invite. I will be sending in my application soon. The craft show is on October 8th. Which happens to be my 40th birthday!!!
I also got my Gypsy back today from Provocraft! I have missed her so. Hehehe!
Thank you all for stopping by and I will post more soon!
