Good morning everyone. Yesterday morning {October 5th} I was in my first car accident. I was leaving Walmart near my home and turning right at a light when a gas tanker truck ran into my right side pushing me off the road and destroying my car. It will be totaled and there is nothing I can say about that. More $ to fix than my 97 Toyota Camry is worth at this point. Although the engine is still in tip top condition, its still a total loss. The truck driver is blaming me and I am going to include pics at the bottom of this post and I will let them speak for themselves. My insurance is covering me completely and is going to go after this guys insurance company. I got a rental car yesterday...a Crown Vic, not sure of the year but I am guessing that it is fairly new. It is a huge change up from my car.
So I am waiting now on the adjuster to check out what is left of my Toyota and get back with me and then go from there.
Yesterday was not a great day...I was and still am very emotional over the whole ordeal. I was so scared that when the truck was just continuing to run over the whole length of my car and not stop immediately...then I saw that it was a gas tanker semi and I was extremely scared b/c I was afraid it was going to blow up or something. Nothing like that happened, there was no fire thank God. I am OK, sore a bit in the neck, shoulders, and back...but I will live.
Just everyone be careful on the roads...You all take care and thank you again for stopping by.
Here are the pictures that I took with my phone at the scene:

Christy,
Oh my gosh! I am so truly glad you are okay. I can understand how shook up you are. Car accidents have a way of doing that to you! Poor little car! I do hope your insurance sues the Hell out of the trucker! That's no excuse to do what he did. And of-course he's going to try to blame you cuz he don't want to get into trouble by his company. However from what I have heard truckers and UPS type people once they get into an accident (even if it's not their fault) they get fired. An investigation from his company should be conducted! I m so so glad your okay!
I gave me goose bumps reading your post and seeing your picks!
Take care,
Peace,
KristyLee
Oh my goodness! I'm glad you're OK. That's so scary. *hugs*
So glad you're OK! You're probably still shaking though - that kind of scare can take a while to wear off.
my goodness I am glad you are ok. I bet you were and still are alittle scared. I would have been worried about it blowing up too. Well I am sure your family and friends and online friends including myself are very happy that you are ok.
That truck looks like a big ol giant compared to your car.
Glad your ok

Christy... My heart goes out to you!!! I would have been so scared also! Wow... the pictures do say it all!!! You are lucky you have them to show!!! I hope that you heal quickly and start to settle down!! Hugs to you!!!!
Dolt - big, warm and loving hugs your way. Have faith, it will all work out.
How scary! When I went to school to drive for FedEx one of the first things we were told is it didn't matter who was at fault, as a professional driver the DOT would hold you responsible for any accident. Good luck with the insurance companies!
OMG, Christy! That tanker tore the sheet metal right off your car! Am relieved to hear you weren't hurt. Sorry about your Camry, tho. Hope it all works out in your favor.
OMG! I'm so glad you're ok! I had a bad accident in January so I totally understand how shaken up you must have been! I still get paranoid driving now...always thinking some jerk is gonna crash into me. I'm so glad you were able to walk away from the accident in one piece! You must have a guardian angel looking out for you! Given the damage to your car, you are really lucky to still be here. Huge (gentle) cyber hugz to you!
Oh my gosh, how scary! I'm so glad you are ok, big hugs coming your way! {{hugz}}
FIRST...BIG HUGS!!
second...2 words...DOCTOR and LAWYER!!
do it, go get checked out, and get a consult with an attorney, they are usually free.
because it is a COMPANY Truck, they will definitely be getting an attorney...don't wait for that.
been there done that!
Much positive energy flowing your way.
keeoing good thoughts also.
Hugs,
Susan
Thank God you are ok! My prayers are with you as you work through the insurance "red tape".
Oh Christy, thank goodness you're ok! I'm not surprised you were shaken up, I'm feeling shaken just looking at the pics and reading about it! ((((hugs))))) to you

oh my gosh!!!! i'm glad your ok! those truck drivers don't get enough sleep i think, some of them don't pay attention!
OMG!!! I'm so glad you're not hurt. Sooo scary! thank heavens for insurance. Take care! xxD
I am so glad you are okay, that is what is important. I do understand how you feel about your car. I've been in accidents and had my fav cars totaled and it hurts a lot emotionally. Take care of yourself, most injuries don't show up for a few days. Get a scan or two of your neck and back to make sure there aren't injuries you can't see, trust me on that one! Good for you for taking the pics, that is the nice thing about cell phones. All my best to you. ~Linda
At least you're ok. Cars can be replaced. That was one scary time, I'm sure. Take care. Big hugs
REALLY- Where the H##L did he expect YOU to go? He totally turned into you! He probably has to fight so he doesn't lose his job, but looks to me like he needs to! I am soooooooooooo feeling your pain. I had a wreck in July that took out my car and it is still painful to think about. My car wasn't perfect or even fancy, but it was MY CAR and I knew everything about it and felt safe and knew I would get from place to place. I am still fighting about the worth of it with my insurance company, but with no luck to look like I will get what I think I should.
I am sooooooooooooooooo glad you are safe because you could have been hurt so badly. Lots of love and gentle, gentle hugs.
