Repeat Impressions - What If? Wednesday!!! Sketch Challenge

Good morning and happy What If? Wednesday to you all!!!  It rained here all day yesterday and was so icky out; I hope today brings something a bit brighter to the Cincinnati area.

Today we have a new sketch from Wendy for the challenge...Sketch #0312

Here is my take on this creative sketch...

I used Pink Paislee  London collection and some Websters paper.  I used the stamp "Best Gifts" - 8615 from Repeat Impressions. The dots are Flamingo Liquid Pearls, ribbon I am not sure of the manufacturer, the scalloped circle from punch and the inner circle from Spellbinders Standard Circles (large).  What I also did to accent this was to take a glitter pen and highlight the roses in the paper as well as around the scallops.
Please stop by the rest of the Rock Stars and see what they came up with for this sketch!

I do hope you play along in this challenge - I cannot wait to see what you come up with.

Thank you so much for stopping by, take care and take some time to do something fun & creative for yourself today!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 3

Happy Hump-Day to you all!  Welcome to Day Three of the 31 Days of Halloween from Smeared Ink. Today what I created was from a sketch that is from a Repeat Impressions What If? Wednesday challenge. So you may recognize the sketch but the card is new.

Paper is from BoBunny and We R Memory Keepers Spooksville paper pack.  The stamps are all from Recollections & Studio G.  They were stamped with Memento black ink and colored in with some Copic markers. I used a white gel pen to accent the scalloped oval and around the half-circle. All the bats are up on foam adhesive to add some dimension.

I hope you like today's card...Thank you for stopping by, take care and I will see you tomorrow...!!!

31 Days Of Halloween - Day 2 + A Dash Of This and That...

Welcome to Day Two in the 31 Days of Halloween!  I wasn't sure if I wanted to make things ahead for this month long event and I admit I did a few things ahead but not a whole lot.  Fortunately for me that will be something that I can keep myself occupied with and try to take my mind off the fact that I have less than a month to find a new place to live.  It is a maddening thing to try and do this and it is like the deadline is coming at me like a freight train.  We have been looking and have others helping us look but we are having such a hard time locating something that is legit, decent neighborhood, within our price range and when in our price range doesn't say we are "over qualified" to live there; monetarily wise that is.  I called a place today that was definitely in our range and looked nice but she about freaked out when I mentioned that I have cats...really?!  Who doesn't love cats?  Don't answer because I know a few of you who don't...
So that has been my mission now for the last month now and now it is the same as we enter this new month with the exception that I have now completed my resume...again, and am now looking for some sort of part-time HR work.  I want to finally use my degree that I worked hard for now that I am not restricted by anything.  I am seeing a job coach at my church as well, which is AWESOME! So if you could send some positive prayers/vibes my way with the home search it would be wonderful and very appreciated by all three of us + the kitties!

Now...onto day two!

What I have for today is a bookmark made using Tim Holtz Grunge Board.  I never once thought to use this for a bookmark until I saw a YouTube video and now for the life of me I cannot remember whose channel I saw it on so forgive me.
I took some Grunge Board and cut it 2" x 6"
Took some Walnut Stain Distress Ink and went all along the outer edges
Used some yellow/orange card stock cut 2" x 6" & used some Tombow liquid adhesive
Used 2 different clear stamps (Recollections & Studio G)
Stamped the pumpkins first on orange card stock, cut them out place on yellow card stock where I stamped image in green for the leaves/stems.
After stamping the Trick or Treat sentiment on the bookmark I again went around the edge with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
This bookmark is double sided and has same image on each side.
The second picture here shows the thickness

I am so happy you stopped by today for Day Two of the 31 Days of Halloween and to hear me go on a little about some things going on with me...it is amazing how the power of the "pen" or keyboard in this case can really make a different in how one feels.

Thank you again, take care and I hope you have time to be creative today!

See you tomorrow for Day Three!

What If? Wednesday! Designer Card Challenge & More Volunteering

Happy Wednesday everyone...We are half way through this chilly week and almost to the weekend.  Have you been crafting anything lately?  I have been busy creating themed crafts for the kiddos where I am volunteering.  So far so good.  I also just today volunteered to lead a group of volunteers to create handmade Christmas cards...750 of them before the first week in December.  They are talking about an additional 750 handmade ornaments but that is all depending on how many volunteers we get.  It is up to me to decide how many volunteers are needed for this and the what's and how to's.  This will definitely be a challenge but a fun challenge.

What If? Wednesday Designer Card Challenge
Welcome to another week of What If? Wednesday from Repeat Impressions.  This weeks Designer Card Challenge is from Patti and it is all about paper Piecing.
Here is my card that I created for this challenge

I hope that you join us over at the Repeat Impressions Blog, I would love to see your paper piecing creation!
Please stop over at my fellow Rock Stars blogs and see what they created:

Thank you so much for stopping by, I wanted to mention that I did say I would post some of the pictures we took of the house we went to see on Sunday...but after some thought we felt it wasn't the right investment for us to go through with at this time.  I will show you a view of what the outside looks like and one of the 50 pictures Eric and I took of the stairs, lol.  This house is a 3 story + full basement, 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, 3 fireplaces, amazing potential for so so much.  I wish circumstances were a wee bit different now and that we could get this.  But as I am learning; God has a plan and even if we don't know what it is right at this moment, God will show it to us eventually.

Thanks again for stopping by, take care and I hope you find the time to create something fun today for YOU!

What If? Wednesday Sketch Challenge

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday!  I hope that you have been having a great week.  I know here in Milford, Ohio it's been getting pretty chilly and I LOVE it!  Fall is approaching us and I couldn't be more thrilled.  Something about the crisp air and the overall mood in the atmosphere just gets me all cheery.
Speaking of getting all cheery...we are having a sketch challenge at Repeat Impression for What If? Wednesday! and we would love for you to play along.
Here is Wendy's sketch #S1912
Here is my take on this great sketch

I wanted to go with a Fall feel for this card and I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out.
The stamps used are both from Repeat Impressions
Maple Leaf Sil (5127)
&
May All Your Dreams (423)
What I did with the Maple Leaf stamp was use Memento ink colors: Rich Cocoa, Tangelo, Lady Bug and Bamboo Leaves to give it a Fall like appearance and repeatedly stamped the image over a piece of  ivory card stock.
The sentiment stamp was inked using Memento Rich Cocoa ink and layered onto some HOTP paper lifted up on one thickness of foam adhesive.
All the paper is from HOTP (Hot Off The Press) except for the ivory card stock and brown card stock used for the base.
4 gold brads are used to embellish

Please take a moment to check out the other Rock Stars take on this sketch!
We will be accepting submissions to this S1912 Sketch Challenge until 5pm EST on October 2nd. All participants will be automatically entered into our random drawing. Then on October 3rd we will post a new challenge and announce the winner of our September challenges. One lucky person will win a $25 Repeat Impressions Gift Certificate!

Thank you for stopping by have a great day, take care and I hope you can do something creative today!

Dazzles - Perfect Pearls - Embossing OH MY!

Good morning everyone...well, we are at Thursday which means only one more day until a three day weekend.  Do you have anything special planned?  Any last minute grill-outs?  Do you know that I have not been to one grill out this entire Summer!  What is up with that?  I am going to a grill out next Thursday.  I really am looking forward to that because it is a new group that I am joining in on.  Everyone else there will know each other and I am the newbie so to speak.  This is a small group that I was "matched up" with through my church.  I have never belonged to a group like this and so I am a wee bit nervous but at the same time I am very excited.  They meet over here on the East-side of Cincinnati by me which is nice being close and twice a month we will all get together.  We were asked that if we wanted to bring something as a side dish for next week to go for it...I cannot cook at all.  I want to bring something but something that won't poison them all...any suggestions?  I'll have to think on this one.  I was told that since it is my first time meeting everyone in the group that I do not need to bring anything but I really want to.

Today is a really busy day for me though, I have to go to the Middletown Arts Center to drop off some sample kits for some upcoming workshops.  One at the MAC and the other at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village.  I have two other appointments today that between the 3 I will deplete all gas that I just put into the tank yesterday...ughhh.

Cheerful Fern Wishes
Here is a card that I worked on last night

This is the inside of the card

I am not entering this card into any challenges, I just wanted to make a card using these fern Dazzles that I had in my stash.  Unfortunately since I created it at night, I also photoed it at night and you cannot really get a good look at how shimmery and gorgeous these ferns are in real life.  They are made out of a  sparkly/glimmering material and are radiant.  The stems on the insides are all gold.
Materials Used:
White card stock as card base of 5" x 6"
Black card stock
Paper from the Teresa Collins paper pack "Sweet Afternoon"
Paper from Fancy Pants paper pack "Baby Mine"
Stamp from Inkadinkado
Ink StazOn Jet Black
Fern Dazzles
Scotch ATG adhesive

I also created another quickie Christmas card

B&W Christmas Card With Green/Red Accents
The sketch which was the inspiration of yesterdays Christmas card that I made was also the design inspiration behind this one

The color in this second picture is truer to the correct color.  I was a bit impatient and took this picture also in the night.  The gold accent around the green & black card stock was Eric's idea.  He and I looked at it knowing it needed something and we both tossed out some ideas and I liked his best.  Even though he didn't come right out and say "Hey Christy, I think some gold Perfect Pearls would do the trick..." he said enough to make me go to the pearls, lol.  I thought it just really brought it all together.
Materials Used
White card stock as card base which is 5" x 7"
Black card stock
More white card stock ran through my Sizzix Texture Boutique using a Cuttlebug embossing folder
Spellbinders Nestabilities - Labels Eighteen (S4-310)
Recollections Cling Stamp
Memento Cottage Ivy Ink
Perfect Pearls Sunflower Sparkle
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
Sizzix Texture Boutique
Red Ribbon
Scotch - ATG adhesive

I hope you like these cards & are inspired to create something today! Thank you as always for taking the time to stop by, take care & have a wonderful day!

Christmas Card Challenge & Copics

Good afternoon everyone & Happy Humpday!
So I went to the doctor yesterday and got some antibiotics for this cold/allergy/flu-like thing I have.  I am trying to get better and keep busy but it's getting harder when not feeling my best.

New Challenge Christmas Card
I made a Christmas card that will fit into a few different challenges. First is one over at Christmas Card Challenges and uses their sketch for weekly challenge #39, the next site is for Jingle Belles Rock and they are having a B-I-N-G-O type challenge over there.  For my BINGO if you go to their site I used BLING, STICKERS & RIBBON.  Last but not least is Creative Card Crew and they ask that you have a Christmas card.
Here is my card

To create this card I used some paper by K&Co. that I have had for over a year, some Echo Park paper, lace, some bling, Merry Christmas metal sticker, Recollections Christmas tree stamp, Cougar Opaque paper for stamping, Copic Markers
Star - Y06 & Y08
Tree - YG17 & YG13
Ornaments - RV19, RV14, RV06, R37, R85, V15 & B24
Trunk - E35 & E31
and lastly I used Silver Stickles.

Hope you like it and are inspired to create something today!
Thank you for stopping by, take care and have a great day!

Acrylic Blocks & Adirondack Blending Solution...Did You Know?

Good morning everyone!  Yeah yeah I know it's Monday, but think of it as a new beginning or a fresh week to start something new & creative.

So last night I was messing around with some of my acrylic blocks that I use for stamping and thinking how bad they look because they are all stained from every type of ink & a ton of other mediums that I have used with them.  Now maybe you all know this trick but I didn't have a clue about it.  In fact it was just a happy coincidence that I discovered this.  If you take your stained & marked up acrylic stamper blocks and put some Adirondack Alcohol Blending Solution on them they will wipe clean!
  Who knew?!  Not me!

Before They Were Cleaned
I didn't photo every single one of my blocks because I honestly have a ton like I am sure a lot of you do.  I just took a few photos but they all came clean; even the Fiskars stamping block with the foam pads on it

Here are the after pictures

Now like I said, you all may have known about this and I may be showing my ignorance here in this post for not already knowing.  I am posting this because there may be some of you who did not know this and I know that I would have liked to known if I didn't already.  So I hope that I was able to enlighten at least some of you with this tid-bit of information.

Thank you for stopping by, take care & have a great day!!!
